YOUTH ICE HOCKEY
DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
Palm Beach Skate Zone’s Youth Hockey Development League designed for players, new and experienced, a structured team-oriented program. Between weekly practices and games, players will learn new skills and build off already acquired skills.
- Our Youth Hockey League’s focus is Skill development. Each practice will be based off USA hockey’s Advanced Development Model. Drills will be small area drills which will provide players with many puck touches and repetitions.
- The Skate Zone Youth Hockey League runs two seasons per year. Our Fall/Winter Season will run from August-December and our Spring Season will run from January-May. Each division is provided with a full season schedule of practices, games and playoffs.
- Our League strives to provide players of all skill levels a place to learn and have fun in a structured, team setting.

7U (Birth Years 2019-2021)
League Highlights
- Focused on developing the foundational skills needed to start playing hockey. All practices follow USA Hockey’s ADM station-based model and feature half-ice games.
- Includes 30 ice sessions, team jersey and socks, 2 classroom sessions, end-of-season player awards, and a potluck party.
- Our goal for this division is to help players have fun, build confidence in their abilities, and begin learning basic team concepts like taking turns, sharing the puck, and supporting teammates
All players & Goalies are REQUIRED to attend all Evaluation skates in order to build fair and balanced teams for the season.
7U (Birth Years 2019–2021)
9U (Birth Years 2017-2018)
League Highlights
- Introduces players to full-ice hockey while continuing to develop core skills. Players begin learning positions, team concepts, and rules in a full-ice setting.
- Includes 30 ice sessions, team jersey and socks, 2 classroom sessions, end-of-season player awards, and a potluck party.
- Our goal for this division is to teach basic positional play, introduce full-ice rules, and develop an early understanding of team systems.
All players & Goalies are REQUIRED to attend all Evaluation skates in order to build fair and balanced teams for the season.
9U (Birth Years 2017-2018)
13U (Birth Years 2013-2016)
League Highlights
- Builds on the skills learned in the 9U division while introducing more advanced full-ice concepts and continued individual development.
- Includes 30 ice sessions, team jersey and socks, 2 classroom sessions, end-of-season player awards, and a potluck party.
- Our goal for this division is to enhance players' game awareness with a stronger focus on positioning, team structure, and both offensive and defensive tactics.
All players & Goalies are REQUIRED to attend all Evaluation skates in order to build fair and balanced teams for the season.
13U (Birth Years 2013-2016)

League Highlights
- Focused on preparing players for higher levels of competitive hockey by refining technical skills and introducing advanced systems and strategy.
- Includes 30 ice sessions, team jersey and socks, 2 classroom sessions, end-of-season player awards, and a potluck party.
- Our goal for this division is to deepen players’ understanding of game situations, strengthen positional play, and teach more complex offensive and defensive systems.
All players & Goalies are REQUIRED to attend all Evaluation skates in order to build fair and balanced teams for the season.
16U (Birth Years 2010-2012)
VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED
Head Coaches receive Skate Zone Hockey Warm-Ups, End of Season T-Shirt & $100 account credit at the conclusion of the season.
